The Sheet Plastics Guide to Splashback Kitchens
Kitchen splashbacks can add personality and character to a kitchen whilst making it much easier to keep your kitchen clean. A splashback can be the focal point of your kitchen and provides you with a multitude of different styles to choose from.
We all know that kitchens can get very messy, very quickly, and our splashbacks can be used all around the kitchen to protect your walls and other surfaces from food, water and general grease damage.
Whether you're looking to replace your existing kitchen splashback or fit something a little fresher, ultra-modern and easy to maintain, we have the perfect solution for you to update your kitchen in a matter of minutes.
What Are the Benefits of Using Kitchen Splashbacks?
Ease of Cleaning
Kitchen splashbacks act as a hygienic guard to protect your walls from food, water and grease. They are versatile, durable and extremely easy to clean using warm soapy water and can be easily wiped down, making them easier to maintain in comparison to grooved tile walls.
Ease of Installation
Many of us would prefer to save money on DIY projects rather than paying a professional in excessive labour charges to take over. Our bespoke kitchen splashbacks are extremely easy to install and are made-to-measure according to your exact measurement specifications, including cutting out for wall sockets or power cables. All you need to do is grab adhesive or screws and apply to your kitchen wall in minutes.
Cost-Effective
Adding acrylic splashbacks to your kitchen is a cost-effective method and is much cheaper than using traditional tiles. It’s an affordable way of modernising and adding style to any plain kitchen.
Excellent Variety of Choices
We have over 30 different colours of plastic sheets to provide you with variety to perfectly suit your existing kitchen. We also offer mirrored kitchen splashbacks to provide the illusion of a bigger space. All of our coloured splashbacks are UV stabilised, meaning that their colour will not deteriorate under sunlight exposure.
Where Can Splashbacks Be Used in the Kitchen?
Before deciding to order kitchen splashbacks, you should decide where you would like them to be used in the kitchen. Most often, our customers use our acrylic sheets for sink splashbacks, kitchen surface splashbacks or as cooker splashbacks.
Sink Splashbacks
Acrylic sheets can be used directly behind the sink to act as splash guards to prevent water and kitchen products from damaging the existing tiles or wall.
Kitchen Surface Splashbacks
Kitchen surfaces need to be durable and able to withstand all types of spills and leaks. Kitchen surface splashbacks can be a hygienic way of protecting your kitchen surfaces from day-to-day damage.
Cooker Splashbacks
Anyone will understand the hassle of cleaning the kitchen cooker splashback on a day-to-day basis after the hob spits odd particles of oil and food after reaching a hot temperature. Cooker splashbacks are neatly fitted behind a cooker to protect the interior walls from this damage. Our aluminium composite kitchen cooker splashbacks are finished with excellent heat resistance to make them safe and practical.
How Do I Measure for a Kitchen Splashback?
Measuring for a kitchen splashback is easy and will only take a few minutes. Draw out the areas needed on a piece of paper along with the measurements needed.
If you require parts to be cut out for sockets, wall units of cooker isolators, make sure to include them within your measurements. You should leave a gap between 3mm and 5mm around sockets and switches so that sealant can be applied to secure the socket and the edges of the acrylic sheet.
We advise you to leave a 1mm gap towards the bottom and top if you are fitting your kitchen splashback between a worktop and cupboard to ensure it fits properly and with minimal movement.
You should also check the measurements throughout the kitchen to ensure that all kitchen surfaces and cupboards are level, otherwise, this may result in gaps on one side which will need filling in with sealant.
You will then want to order your bespoke acrylic sheets which are cut-to-size. We are more than happy to support in placing your order if you have any questions surrounding the measurements or sizing.
How Do I Fit My Kitchen Splashback?
After your kitchen splashbacks arrive, we recommend checking they do fit before installing them.
First, you’ll want to clean the surfaces that the kitchen splashbacks will be applied to and make sure there is no residue, dirt or moisture left behind. Peel back the protective plastic from the back of the acrylic and apply your chosen adhesive to the back of the acrylic sheet.
You should then carefully position your splashback into place and use tile packers to prop the splashback up while it dries. Finish off by wiping away any excess adhesive that is spilling from the sides and finally, leave the splashbacks to set for 24 hours.
Update Your Kitchen With Kitchen Splashbacks
Updating your kitchen doesn’t always mean a huge makeover with a large budget. Our kitchen splashbacks are a cost-effective method of tastefully updating your kitchen and making it much easier to maintain and clean.
Acrylic is relatively inexpensive and there's even no need to hire a qualified tradesman to install them as the installation is straight-forward.
