2. What are the advantages of using acrylic panels and splashbacks over traditional glass splashbacks and ceramic tiles?

With the bathroom being one of the most used rooms of the house, it’s a good idea to keep it looking fresh and modern. We offer a wide range of colour options to add a clean pop of colour to any plain bathroom which will update it to a modern finish.

The main benefit of using acrylic panels and splashbacks is that it delivers a smooth, hard-wearing and watertight finish in a cost-effective way, with 100% waterproof guarantee. This is why many people show a stronger preference over acrylic than traditional tiles.

For use in a bathroom, there’s no need to grout between panels, meaning that there are fewer places for tough dirt or mould to build up. This also poses another benefit of not needing to replace the grout later on.

Acrylic sheeting makes perfect waterproof bathroom panels for shower walls as well as bathroom splashbacks and counter-top surfaces.

3. Best uses of acrylic in bathrooms

Acrylic bathroom panels are versatile in that they can be used all around the bathroom. Here are some of the best uses of acrylic in bathrooms:

Shower panels

A great benefit of using acrylic in a bathroom is that they are extremely easy to clean and get rid of watermarks, making it ideal for use as an acrylic shower panel. Shower panels are non-porous, therefore protects the walls in your bathroom from water damage. Shower splashbacks are easy to install and are extremely hygienic. They are perfect for any wet room or bathroom!

Shower screens

A plastic shower screen acts as a barrier between your bath/shower and bathroom, to prevent water from escaping and splashing into the bathroom while you’re having a shower.

An acrylic shower screen is a more permanent fitting than a shower curtain, making it the preferred option for any bathroom.

Bath panels

Plastic bath panels are a practical method of concealing unsightly bathtub fittings and pipework in your bathroom and refreshing the appearance of your bath without having to spend too much money.

It also prevents you from having to deal with costly repairs, as acrylic bath panels prevent splashed water from dripping outside the bathtub and flowing underneath the bathtub.

Sink splashbacks

If your bathroom sink is high in pressure, you’ll understand how easy it is to splash water when washing your hands. This can be a pain when splashed water can affect and mark paintwork around our house.

A bathroom sink splashback prevents this splashed water from damaging the wall behind the sink, by acting as a barrier.

4. How to measure your bathroom for a plastic splashback

Once you have decided which areas of your bathroom you would like to add bathroom splashback panels to, you will need to start measuring. Begin by drawing out the area on a piece of paper with all measurements jotted down. Make sure to include any parts that require cutouts, including shaver sockets or bathroom pipework.

If your bathroom splashback is to be fitted adjacent to a cupboard, we recommend leaving a 1mm gap to ensure the panel fits and there is minimal movement. This gap can then be filled with sealant later on. To avoid inconsistent gaps, you’ll also need to check that all surfaces and cupboards are level.

If you require fabrication on your bathroom splashbacks (cut-outs and holes) then please email a basic drawing to [email protected] and one of our expert staff will provide a quotation. You can find our guide to bathroom splashbacks here.

5. Acrylic Splashback Installation

Installing your bathroom splashback is extremely quick and mess-free. All you have to do is simply put the panel in place and fit. It’s that easy to install, that you don’t need to be a qualified tradesman to fix them to the wall. If you need assistance in installing the splashback, you can contact us and we will advise you on the best way to get your desired result.

Once you’ve cut your acrylic sheet or your custom cut sheet has been delivered, you’ll need to apply it to the wall. First, you’ll need to ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust and dirt - for a smoother application.

You’ll then need to peel back the protective plastic from the back of the acrylic sheet. Now apply your chosen adhesive and carefully position your splashback sheet into place.
